Sydney, May 25. J. B, A. Rood, superintendent of stores, who had charge of the negotiations for the Government pci rol monopoly scheme, has lieen dismissed from I the public service. The reasons are 'not stated. THREE MiLLIONS N.S.W. LOAN. Sydney, May 25. The State Government's negotiations for a three million loan with Britain are proceeding. AUSTRALiA'S ARMY. Adelaide, May 25. At the Premiers' Conference, Mr Pearee' stared that the Federal Government did not intend to disband the soldiers immediately'at the end of the war. They would have to be unloaded gradually, otherwise the soldiers would be a menace to the community .and some might be left to starve. The conference expressed approval, and appointed a committee to arrange co-or-dinate action. ISSUE OF HOME-SERVICE BADGES Melbourne, May 26. The Defence Department has been instructed to issue badges for home service to the. medically unlit, munition workers, and returned soldiers. MARKET WANTED FOR HORSEFLESH. The Government' has instructed the Agent-General to ascertain if there is a "possibility i o£ securing a market on the Continent; particularly , v gium, for horseflesh.
