*»» ~ , • . v '■,-•■■ A telegram from Wellington says the following men are returning to New Zealand from Albany medically unfit: Gunner Clarence R. Church, Riflemen Harold P. James and David Tuto. The death of Mr John Grant; for the past twenty years proprietor of the Woodville Examiner, occurred at Woodville on Tuesday night (says a Press Association message). The deceased, who was 65 years of age, was an old resident of New Zealand. At the last meeting of the Whanga County Council, Mr A. Meredith forwarded a letter, resigning tho office of Councillor. The resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place on record the Council's high opinion of Mr Meredith's labors on be- ! half of tho Council. Cr. W. A. Mc- j Cutchan was elected chairman for the remainder of the year. I
