A London cable stater, that Lieutenant. John Stewart Richardson, of the Coldstream Guards, a resident of Hawke’s Bay, has been killed in action. Messrs E. J. Flynn (To Wera), Hugh Hansen (Stratford) ? E. P. Aldridge (Stratford), and F. A. Vickers (Midhirst), have been passed as medically lit for the Reinforcements. An old and well-known resident of Napier, Mr Frank Tuke, died at the Napier Hospital as the result of an accident. Deceased, who was 60 years of age, was the only son of the late Captain Tuke, and was unmarried. At the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Cuthhert’s, Manaia, last week, Mrs John Hunt, who has been acting as organist, was presented with a beautiful pearl pendant as a slight acknowledgment of her long and faithful service. Mrs Dive, wife of Mr Bradshaw Dive, Mayor of Eltham, died on Monday afternoon. Airs Dive had not been well for some time, and on Monday her medical advisers decided that an operation was necessary. This was successfully performed in the morning, hut the patient ailed to rally, and died in the afternoon.
