The Daily Telegraph’s Washington correspondent says that President Wilson is prepart'd to make a serious issue on the question of the punishment of the commander who submarined the Sussex. j Ambassador Gerard has boon unable to learn what punishment was inflicted. I Washington points out the effectiveness of the new orders, and defends entirely the penalty of violation. j TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT ! INTERFERENCE WITH MAILS. j WASHINGTON OBJECTS TO BRITISH POLICY. (Received 1 p.m.) Washington, May 22. i An American Note to Britain on the subject of mail interference makes it plain that the Tinted States cannot consent to the continuance of the British policy.
