ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
WOMAN INJURED BY TAXI. [United Prk*» Assooutton.! Wanganui, May 21. A serious accident occurred in the Avenue on Saturday evening, when a taxi ran over a young woman named O'Donnell, of Okoia, who had both arms and some ribs broken, <«* well f ..s sustaining internal injuries. The taxi was evidently out of control, for the woman was dragged a considerable distance under the car, which eventually crashed into a telegraph post and was badly damaged. " The woman was taken to the hospital, where her condition is very serious. NEWLY-BORN BABY FOUND. Dunedin, May 18. The body of a newly-born female child was found under the Birst Sorest wharf this morning. It had apparentlv been washed up by the tide, and had not been in the water for any length of time. There was no clothing on the body, which was wrapped in brown paper. There is no clue to the identity of the child.
