TRADES UNION CONGRESS. WHOLE HOC RESOLUTIONS. United Tubbs Association. (Received 10.00 a.m.) Hobart, May IS. The Trades Union Congress carried a motion urging the Government to alter the constitution to provide for absolute preference to unionists. It also called upon the Government to confiscate all net rent interests and profits of over three hundred pounds a year.
THE PETROL INQUIRY. JUSTICE PRINC’S FINDINGS. j (Received 9 a.m.) Sydney, 31 ay 18. Mr Justice Bring has delivered Ins findings on the petrol inquiry. He found no Ividence that Mr (Griffiths was guilty of corruption or of any intention to share moneys illicitly paid, but that Morgan, on three separate occasions, to Black and Wagstafie, made improper and corrupt proposals; that certain sums of money were provided for the Minister or Ministers; that Reid was fully cognisant of these proposals and did not report them to his superiors. Mr Justice Bring commented: “1 cannot help thinking there is a widespread suspicion that Ministers and officials have their price.” Mr Griffiths states he will not resume office until the suspicious circumstances are cleared up. He has been advised to take criminal proceedings. (Received 10.50 a.m.) Sydney. May IS.
