Miss Marchant, of St. Mary’s Girls’ School, has returned to Stratford.
Dr. A. A. Martin, of Palmerston North, is reported to he again near the 1 front in France.
Dr. R. S. Trotter, of Auckland, has been appointed assistant medical’ officer at Raratonga. Dr. H. Barra dough, formerly of Palmerston North, lias been appointed medical officer of the island of Niue. Nurse. Hassall has returned to Stratford after a stay of three weeks on holiday in Wellington. Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., lias in response to a requisition, consented to become a candidate for a seat on the Taranaki Education Board. Messrs F. I). Oxley (Stratford), and 4ulm Groshenski (Stratford), have d-.-ii passed as medically fit for the in-, iooriy section of the Reinforcements Mr Hugh 8. Arson, of the legal firm ot Biuun- and Ayson, Wellington, has been appointed judge of the Native Land Court, Cook Islands.. Mr P. G. Morgan, Director of Geological Survey, has been appointed Lndor-Secretary for Alines, and the Mines Office has been restored to the status of a separate department. Bishop W. L. Williams, of Napier, lias attended every session of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of New Zealand for the last fifty years. A letter was read at the opening of tlie Synod in Christchurch explaining this time failure of physical strength debarred Bishop Williams from being present.
