Hawera, May 10. The Egmont Racing Club's winter meeting opened to-day in fine weather. There is a good attendance. Results: Tongahoc Hurdles, of 125 sovs., 1* Miro (9.0) 1, Patronymic (9.10) 2, Crown Pearl (10.13) 3. Scratched: Parawanui, Calais, Simple Sam, and Silver Pose. Won by three lengths. Time 2.54 1-5. Tawhiti Handicap, of 150 sovs., six furlongs:—Veto 6.12) 1, Glcnroy (8.6) 2, Tirana (7.6) 3. Scratched: Los Angelos and Depredation. Won by half a length. Time 1.17 1-5. Ladies Purse, of 100 sovs., 8* furlongs.—White Blaze (11.5) 1, Normanby (10.9) 2, Silenus (10.11) 3. Won by a neck. Time, 1.58. Railway Handicap, of 100 sovs., six furlongs.—Golden Grafton (7.9) 1, Svlviaroa (7.0) 2, Haupai (7.0) 3. Scratched* Cbropet, Lake Eel. Won bv a head. Time, 1.17 4-5.
