Yesterday, the actual tercentenary of Shakespeare’s death, the date being April 23 in the old style of calendar, was celebrated. In the primary schools the moining was devoted to lectures on Shakespeare’s works, with special natnnal prayers. Then* was a holiday m the afternoon. Reports of the celebrations occupy considerable space in the newspapers, but the grave national happenings aie distracting public attention.
