Mr Asquith, the Premier, in unveiling la St. Paul’s Cathedral a memorial to Captain Scott and liis companions wiio lost their lives at tlie South .Pole, said it would be idle to apply conventional eulogy to Scott. I These were men show ing in the dim [polar twilight, without witness, without knowing whether their record would over reach Britain, the supreme quality for thoughtfulness, courage, and endurance, and this was before the great ideal which, on the worldwide stage, is now testing the national manhood. "While we are justly proud of our heroic warriors on sea and land, lot us not forget the imperishable debt of tireless example which the whole Empire owes to Scott and his comrades.
