Mr Redmond appealed to the'Government not •to treat with undue severity the masses concerned in the outbreak. ( Sir'Edward Carson, following Mr Redmond, remarked that many of Mr BirrelPs bitterest opponents would recognise that his present misfortune was clue rather to Mr Birrell’s desire to preserve unity in: enemies abroad than through any dereliction of duty.—(Cheers). Regarding Jfr Redmond’s plea for leniency, Sir Edward true Irishman would cull for vengeance.
