HEAVY TAX ON WAR PROFITS. (Received 9.35 a.m.) .Melbourne, May 4. The Federal Ministry proposes to introduce a heavy tax on war profits. An average will be struck of the promts of each of the three years preceding the war, and after allowing 10 per cent, for the capital invested and deducting the amount of the average profits from the profits of the war for the year, the excess of profits -will be taxed at the rate of 25 per cent. FLOUR FOR THE .ALLIES. (Received 9.35 a.m.) Melbourne, May 4. The new contract to supply flour to the Allies involves a sum of £364,800 representing 32,000 tons of flour. CLERGY AND THE WAR.
