The Union S.S. Co. has received word that the Flora, whose machinery broke down has‘arrived at Papeete. The Press Association at Wellington states that the Mapourika is being held ready to proceed there if necessary.

Two Australian transports which are to come to Mew Zealand this month to load meat, will come, one to Auckland, and the oilier to Wellington. The former will complete loading at other .ports, but the Wellington vessel will possibly fill up here (states a Wellington message). First preference will bo given to beef. K. Gustafsen, aged 25, a Russian Finn, second officer of the steamer Ihumata, was out shooting with two ethers yesterday (states a Gisborne telegram), when he was missed. His clothes and gun were found on the bank of the Waimata River. A search is being made for his body. A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that tiie Quantity of butter in cool storage at the various gazetted grading' ports throughout the Dominion on 30th April, 1910, was 92,297 boxes; the total in store at the 30th April, 1915, was 59,798 boxes, and on the 30th April, 1914, was 88,002 boxes. A Timaru Press Association telegram to-day states: The Alpine town of Fairlie was raided by burglars on Saturday night, and the safes at the Farmers’ Co-operative store, the railway station and Sliecran’s jewellery shop were blown open and robbed. A storm was raging at the time. The thieves first went to the blacksmiths shop and got tools. The doors and windows were forced, and the safes blown open with gelignite. Bags flour, sugar, and other materials were used to deaden the sound. At the Farmers, £l2O in cash, at the railway station £4O in cash, and Sheeran’s solid gold jewellery valued at £2OO were stolen. The police, who have no chic yet, state that the opening of tho safes was done by experts.
