AUSTRO-CERMAN SCRAP AT PINSK. MANY KILLED AND WOUNDED. (Received '8.30 a.m.) Petrograd, April 30. Deserters from the enemy state that when the flooding of the Austro-Geiv man trenches at Pinsk necessitated a withdrawal, the Germans retired first, leaving the Austrians to hold the trenches. The' Austrians were so incensed that a bloody hand-to-hand fight followed, and about one-fiundred were killed .and wounded. German and Austrian troops hurripd, up to help their comrades, and '. the fight was so serious that the German staff sounded the alarm for a Russian attack. The ruse was successful.
RECAPTURE OF TRENCHES. A communique states; The Germans, attacking in close formation, recaptured the trenches • previously lost south of Lake Narocz and Simma. MUNITION MANUFACTURING. (Received 8.30 a.m.) Petrograd, April 30. The output of munitions is steadily increasing, and ‘many shipments have; already been made. -The development of the existing factories is receiving diligent attention.
