THE TUNA PICNIC.

(From our own Correspondent). On Thursday, 6th April, the Tuna School annual .picnic was Held on tlie school grounds, ami a most enjoyable clay was spent by the children, their parents and visitors. The co.am.ticc spared no pains to get oil' all races and competitions quickly, everything going off well. Due justice was done to the good tilings so generously provided by the ladies, and the sweets kindly donated by Messrs Lester Bros., ol Miclhirst.

in tiie evening a crowded amU-.uv assembled for the concert. The tirst part of the programme was given oy the school children, who did credit t'< their training, every item being well rendered. The second part consisted oi piano and violin duet by -Misses KoveLeski; recitation. Miss I). Plews; songs by W. Kirkley (2), Bolger (3), Misses A. Kovaleski, A. Milne, W. Goodwin, K. Wright; instrumental trios. M'ss and Messrs Lester; pipe time and step dance. Mr Wade. The items were all much appreciated by the audience, especially the instrumental trios by Miss and Messrs Lester Bros., and the comic songs by Mr Bolger. After votes of thanks were accorded the teachers, and Misses Goodwin, W. Goodwin, A. Wilne and E. Wright for training the school children for their part, and to all visitors for their assistance, the floor was cleared for the dance, which followed. The net proceeds of the cay. £6 9s 6d were handed to the Wounded Soldiers Fund; £1 6s of this was the proceeds of weight-guessing con:petition of a cake presented by Mrs L<Kovaleski.
