SOLDIERS DAY.

The very excellent music rendered and the fine selections by the Egmont Club orchestra added much to the enjoyment at the Soldiers Day carnival. ' This clever musical combination is always particularly free with its services for any good object, and tin) members are to he congratulated on their self-sacrifice. The names, of those taking part were; Messrs RCottier (conductor) (violin), Lester (violin), C. Penn (violin), Edmondson (piano), Lester (clarionette), A. O’Leary (flute), H. Burrnester (cornet), and T. Marshall (horn). The combined band, under Conductor Marshall, rendered ' excellent service. After accompanying the procession to the ground, the hand played selections during the day, and Also., supplied the music for the military displays. The big St. Bernard dog was resoonsi hie for the collecting of a donolefigure sum for the fund. The dog drew a cart on which was emblazoned, an invitation to fire “silver bullets” into it on behalf of the fund, Mrs W. Jones and Mr Christie are to he congratulated on the result of their day’s efforts. . .
