SUGGESTED WORKERS’ INSUR-
ANCE SCHEME.

The progress report committee which is enquiring into the causes of death and invalidity in the Commonwealth, recommends the establishment of an insurance scheme to provide temporary relief to workers, and obviate the necessity of their letiun to worn immediately after a serious illness. CLOTHING TRADE DISPUTE. Melbourne, April 25. In connection with the dispute over the Commonwealth clothing factory, the Political Labour Council passed a resolution condemning Senator Gardiner for stating that two non-unionists and three Government inspectors could do the cutting for the clothing. The trade union declared it was the work of these men. Mr Black said it would probably result in the clothing factory transferring the Government work to private firms. STATE ENTERPRISE. Sydney, April 25. At the Labour League Conference, statistics were submitted showing that the capital investments in the. State undertakings amounted to £185,725. Seven yielded a profit of £52,495, while six were run at a loss of £33,222.
POSTMASTER-GENERAL AND UNIONISM.

A resolution has been adopted condemning the Postmaster-General for stating that the officers of the various public service associations were selfseekers and made themselves objectionable by playing to the gallery, and that it was singulat how many such moved up when their nnionistic attitude; , ceases.
