A JEALOUS HUSBAND. United I’rush ASSOCIATION Melbourne, April IT. Gerard Fonda berry and his wile attended a party with their daughters last night. One daughter went to her parents’ residence this morning and found both shot in the head. Recent statements of Fondaherry indicated that jealousy was the cause of a premeditated tragedy. A KATOOMBA TRAGEDY. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DIE TOGETHER. (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, April 19. Mrs Halletb and her 18-year-old daughter, who were visitors to Katooinha from Victoria, were found dead in a rented cottage. Their belongings included throe buttles which contained aconite, and instructions for disposing of their personal property. The mother had apparently been dead for five days and the daughter three days. There is nothing to explain the tragedy. PASTRYCOOKS TALK STRIKE, (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, April 19. The Pastrycooks’ Union issued an ultimatum announcing theft intention to cease work, unless certain holidays and terms are granted, and the employers secured an injunction to restrain the flouted men ceasing work. FINANCIAL LOSS IN OPERATIONS OF STATE; FISHERIES. (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, April 19. Operations of the State fisheries for the past eight months resulted in a loss of £BOOO/ ECHO OF SENSATIONAL CRIME. Melbourne, April 19. Williamson and Taylor wore acquitted on the charge of murdering the chaffeur Haines on 29th February.
