FATAL DRINK OF WATER. PElt r»HE»B ASSOCIATION. Auckland, April 15. •John O'Grady, single, aged sixtyeight, died in the public hospital while on remand on a charge of drunkenness at Pukek'ohe. Evidence at the inquest shewed that deceased was ill when admitted to Mount Eden prison, and stated that he had been drinking swamp water. A verdict ill accordaneo with the medical evidence was returned, that death was due to itis. l ■
DEATH WHSLE SHPPPSNG, Wellington, April 15. When out shopping in Brandon Street about 2.55 yesterday afternoon with her cousin, Mrs Willam Mullins, aged 42, suddenly exebimed "Oh! Alice," and collapsed on the pavement. She went black in the face and w?s carried 'into Messrs Kirkealdie and Stains' .shop near by, where she died a few seconds later. Dr. Henry was called in, but could only pronounce lifa extinct. It is presumed that heart failure was the cause of. the seizure. William Mullins, the husband of the deceased, is a farmer. He had just sold out his farm near Wanganui, and £he deceased, with her live children, had come on ahead to Wellington i and was residing at 21, Holloway Road.
SUDDEN DEATH OF A SOLDIER. I ._ ._ ' , Auckland } April 17. Hugh George Chilton, 22, a soldier on leave, fell down a lift well in a building where ho had been entertained by friends, and was killed. He had fallen unobserved a distance of fif tv. feet. .His skull was fractured. .
