THE PETROL. SCANDAL. (Rote:. '. J 8,25 a.m.) Sydney, April 12. r.ci'oro the Petrol Commission, Morgan. in his evidence, mentioned three per Vent, as his commission. He said he looked upon the matter as an. ordinary commercial deal, as one in which ho could make as much as possible for himself. The whole thing would have been submitted to Cabinet, and in the event of the pruning knife being used he wanted to ensure a substantial brokerage. He did not care if the world know he received ten or fifteen per cent. Ho stated that Mr Black said it would come pretty rough on him if the Government took over the company, as ho had made the New South Wales agency, ft pretty good tiling for himself. THE APPLE INDUSTRY, (Received 8.25 a.m.) Melbourne, April 12. Owing to the want of shipping space Victoria and Tasmania have four million cases of unexportahle apples, and efforts are being made to save heavy losses of growers by creating ~a wider local market.
