Ihe <" ceased was a very old resident of Cardiff and that she was highly esteemed was jbonje out by the large number of ! people who paid her the last respects. I The funeral of the late Mr It. j JRichardson, of Opunake, Road, also j took place on Sunday afternoon. | A public meeting was held on Monday night to arrange a social in honor of Mr T. Blair, now on leave, and in honor also of Private Whyte. Mr D. Cameron presided. It was decided to hold the function in the school on Friday next, 14th inst., and there will without doubt, be a large number present. The Cardiff Miniature Rifle Club will commence operations as soon as targets and ammunition are obtained. One or two trophies have been promised. and some keen contests will no doubt eventuate. )
