The building was owned by C. Dahl, Palmerston, and was insured for £SOO in the. Northern office. The stock, which was valued at £2300, was insured in the Commercial office for £I3BO, and the furniture was insured for £165 in the Commercial.—P.A.

At the Hospital Board this morning a letter was received from a Ngaere resident stating that he had forwarded the Board’s account for hospital treatment to the Lodge to which he belonged. The latter part of the letter was responsible for a smile on the faces of the members present. The letter stated: “I shall keep 2s 6d back, as the boy went in with a pyjama suit, and was sent home with only a coat, and the nurses omitted to put the trouser part of the suit in 1 sent twice to the Hospital for them, and they said they knew they were there, but could not land them. I cannot afford to lose them, so 1 will keep 2s (id back to pay for what was kept of mine at the Hospital.’/
