FRUIT Iff REFRIGERATORS. [United Press Association.J (Received 12.40 a.m.) London, April 10. At a meeting of the Cold Storage find Ice Association, Mr F. Moore read a paper on fruit and refrigeration. He said the correct temperature at which to carry apples was about .13 Fahr, with no greater range than two degrees each way. Some fruits carry better if pre-cooled. 'f'his was unnecessary with apples, but ft was very desirable with pears. We must look beyond the refrigerating engineers before we can rely on receiving Antipodean fruits at their best. We mustn’t expect refrigeration to thoroughly preserve fruit which was not in the best condition when it reaches the refrigerator. Not sufficient importance is attached to the proper time for gathering fruit and its treatment afterwards. Sir Thimas Mock juzie presided.
