TARANAKI HIGHLAND BAND. A big feature of Soldiers' Day in Stratford, which will appeal to all true Scots and lovers of the bagpipes, will bo the appearance of the Taranaki Highland Band. What is more picturesque than to see the men in kilts go by? What is more thrilling than the old Highland marches, the Strathspeys and Pibrochs Hoots, mon.f>The skirl o' the pipes that for generations has led the regiments o' Scotland into battle will draw frae far awa'" every descendant o' Bonnie Scotland! Come Yin. Come A'. Members of the organising committee visited Hawera yesterday and interviewed the Mayor (Mr Dixon), the Military Group Commander (.Major-, M'Xaught), the bandmaster of the 1 Hawera Band, and several influential business linns. In each, quarter, hearty co-operation and assistance was promised. At both Hawera and El-j tham, opportunity was taken of calling upon the management of the locai press, and suitable arrangements* wVi'e : made to ensure full publicity of Soldiers' Day throughout those centres. The side-shows on the Showgrounds on Easter Monday will be numerous and varied. Provision is being made in this direction to ensure that the public will be both amused and entertained. One, of the most popular of the side-shows will be a Christy Minstrel troup of ladies and gentlemen, the musical talent of the town.and district being drawn on to provide the The entertainers will her under the management of Mr Foley, of His Majesty's Theatre. To those who have faith in fortune-tellfers there will be the tent of a Gipsy 'fortune-teller, wherein the secrets of the future will be revealed for a small consideration. Other sources of amusement and entertainment for young and old, too many in number to detail in this column, will be provided, and it will indeed be a remorse individual without a smile on 'The Day." *
