PERSONAL.

At the Stratford District High School this afternoon Miss E. Tooman, who has been on the staff for three and a-half years, and who is leaving to take up the position as first assistant teacher at the Woodvilie High School, was presented with a silver purse from the teachers and a travelling clock from the pupils. Mr P. Skoglund (chairman of the School Committee), who made the presentations, said of late he had had to visit the school on too many occasions to wish teachers farewell. As soon as they got a teacher whom they were fond and who was doing excellent work, somebody else wanted her, and Stratford lost her. He washed Miss Tooman prosperity in her new sphere, and said they were all sorry she was leaving. The speaker called for tmec cheers for the departing teacher, which were given in a very hearty manner, hi rep.v, Miss Tooman thanked Mr Skoglund for nis remarks, and said she was sorry to leave the school, where she was very happy with the Headmaster and the staff. She said when she thought of how happy she had been at the Stratford School she ought to be unhappy whore she was going. In conclusion, Miss Tooman thanked the scholars and teachers for the presents and said she would always take an interest in the doings of old hoys and girls or the Stratford School.
