HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, -March 25. Meat.—There is great demand in the market for mutton and lamb at higher pricey owing to a short supply available. Demand greater than the supply- . . , , Mutton.—Quotations are nominal. Canterbury and other brands than Canterbury, any weight, 7£d per lb; ewes, 7\d. ) i/ am b. _ Canterbury, and other brands, than Canterbury, B*d per lb; j this season's 9d. j Beef .—There is no New Zealand beef 'on the market. Chilled hinds, 8J<1; fores 7d. j ! Butter.—The market is weaker and i tendency downwards. Demand has fallen off considerably on account of high prices. Danish, market very dull, 'per ewt., 170 s to 180 s; New Zealand, 'market quiet, prices slightly weaker. |l62s to 161 s; unsalted, market quiet but steady, 162 s to 1665, fair to good 'quality 150 s to 158 s; Australian, practically none offering, prices (nominal) 156 s to 158 s; Siberian, 126 s to 1345; Argentine, steady market, 14.6 sto 150 s. Cheese.—The market is very firm. .Canadian, prices 'firm, per ewt., 106 s [to 107 s. fair to good quality 104 s to 105?; New Zealand, a fair demand, market quieter, white 102 sto 103 s, colored 103 s to 104 s; United States, 102 s to 103 s, fair to good quality 100 s to 101 b ; English Cheddar, market remains firm, 112 s to 114 s; Cheshire, 120 s tc 1225.
