The Herald, commenting on the significance of the South Australian and Tasmanian six o’clock victories, predicts that with proper co-operation and concentration the forthcoming referendum in New South Wales nill take its place side by side with these two States with an equal value in its majority for six o’clock closing. EFFECT ON VICTORIA’S DRINK BILL. (Received 9.30 a.m.) Melbourne, March 29. A Rechabite deputation, advocating an early closing referendum, claimed that a previous reduction in the hours reduced Victoria’s drink bill last year by one and a half millions.
