BATTLE OF WAIREKA.
COMPLETE LIST OF SURVIVORS.
For some time past Captain John Black and Captain have been compiling a list of the survivors of the force of volunteers and Militia which took part in the Battle of Waireka on March 28, 1860. The force numbered 152 men, rank and file, and naturally to trace some of the men after so long an interval has involved a lot of correspondence. However* the list is now as complete as it..is possible to make it. There are 44 survivors, which is :i remarkable percentage after a lapse of 50 yars. Captain Black bimslf is about the youngest in tin; list, and he is within two or three days of 73 years of ago. The list is as follows ; Andrews, John Brixton, Waitara. Allen. Thomas, New Plymouth.
