S.S. MAORI HELD UP. Per Press Association. Wellington, March ]". The Maori was unable to sail for Lyttelton to-night, owing to a shortage of firemen. It appeal's that one fireman was dismissed for neglecting to carry out an order, whereupon others of the stokehold crew gave notice and were paid off to-day. As not sufficient men signed on to-day the Union Company decided not to dispatch the vessel, whose mails and most of the passengers were transferred to the Westralia, which got away at 10.30 p.m. THE PETONE WOOLLEN MILLS. Wellington, March , 17. W T hen the whistle blew at the Petone Woollen Mills this morning only the foremen and a laborer turned up, all the others, about 75 males and 145 females keeping away from the works. The foremen were engaged in clearing and finishing contracts. It is understood th- fc the Dominion woollen mills employers will meet next week to discuss-the position.
