-- CONVOYS'6> WOUNDEb,* ' ' United Pbess-Association. i/i I Stockholm, March 17. The Frankfurter Zeitung states' that the convoys of wounded which are continually passing Frankfort are arousing the greatest anxiety, and it is feared the Germans have suffered enormous losses at Verdun. The Wolff Agency, however, has informed the press that the convoys are composed of wounded and captured , French soldiers. THE GERMAN BUDGET. A REICHSTAG SPEECH. ENGLAND. (Received 12.35 p.m.) Amsterdam/ March 17. Horr Hedfferch, in his speech on the budget in the Reichstag, said the Budget contained no war items, December's credit being ample for some bime to come. . The Budgets had hitherto been''equal to all demands', and the object of the proposed new taxes was to exclude all danger. England was endeavouring to cover a considerable portion of the.war expenditure by taxation. Germany had a juster conception of the financial claims of the war and will not follow in England's wake. Nevertheless, they must have considerably increased Imperial revenue. Whatever their hopes may be. they were founded on an indemnity.. but the now taxes will not be further extended. The subscriptions to the new fourth loan would be of the greatest significance. Regarding the war, Germanv had hitherto defied her enemies financially, and now even approached her achievements. Germany had successively beaten England's loans. Germany's enemies, forseeing the success of the war. were spreading maniacal lies about her financial situation. The Germans know that victory belongs them, and those at home contribute to the soldiers' victory.
