THE HECRUIJjNC QUESTION.
[United Press (Association.] - London, March 14. The Times’ correspondent at Toronto states that at a recruiting meeting Lord Shauglmessy (president of the Canadian Pacific Railway) was opposed to raising a Canadian army of 500,000 men, on the grounds that it would cause undue interference with agriculture and industrial affairs. . • Colpriel Hughes (Minister of Defence) vigorously dissented. Another speaker proposed an antirecruiting resolution, but Was greetsd' with hisses, and the chairman ruled that it could not be moved.
