MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeU.ng oT"tne Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Boat\l was held this morning, when there were present: Mr J. McAllister (chairman), and Messrs C. D. Sole, ft. ;McK. Morison, E. Hine, J. Smith, E. Walter, and J. Christoffel. WHANGA MEDICAL. R. G. Fawkner, acting secretary Whangamomona Medical Association, wrote stating that his committee was desirous of having a nurse established in the district, and he would like to know of a workable scheme, such as the one in operation at Uriti could be established. The sum of £6B per year was being paid to the New Plymouth Board by the -Uriti Association, and on this was collected a subsidy of 21s in the £, making in all |l5O, which fcalary was paid to the* 'nurse; A house could be provided by the Whangamdmona Association if the. scheme was a workable one. The establishing of a nurse would be a. great boon dujing the absence,of'the'doctor, who was away with the Reinforcements. The Uriti Association charged the following fees: Subscribers, advice 2s 6d, nonsubscribers from OS upwards; nursing per day 5s and 10s; nursing per week 30s and 60s.

Moston, inspector in charge Department of Labor, Wellington, wrote in reply to the Board's letter with reference to a vacancy for a cook. He was unable to find a suitable person available at present.—Received. MEDICAL REPORT. Dr. Steven (Medical Superintendent) reported that during the month 18 patients were admitted, 16 were discharged, and one.died. Sixteen re- ; maihed in the hospital at the end of the month. Six operations were peiv formed under anaesthetics. There are no cases in isolation ward. Tn view of the fact that the children's ward is full; and that rneasles is prevalent in town, I recommend that children visitors be forbidden for the present.— Adopted, i •'....... THE MATROX'S REPORT. The Matron (Miss M. O'Brien) reported that Nurse Finn had off duty through illness during the month, and that she was at present on leave. .—Adopted. THE HOSPITAL GARDENS. The gardener reported that the kitchen garden and grounds we're in fair order. ,He bad been off duty for a week or two through illness, but a man had been attending to bis work. He wished to thank rill who had donated (bulbs. Continuing, the report stated, I would like to mention that some, horses are causing a lot of trouble : n the garden. They are on the roadsi continually and in the garden. I would like some members io come up and see the mess they made last night. ] spoke to the owner and he got abusive, so I told him I would keep the horses and put damages on them the next tinfe they were in the garden. The Chairman said that some time go the gardener asked for some spring bulbs, and in consequence he interviewed the members of the local Horticultural Society, and be was successful in getting a great number. A vote of thanks to the members of the Horticultural Society for donating , bulbs was pnsr.ee], GENERAL. J The Chairman reporter! that during the month the wardsman at the j hospital had left the town suddenly I without giving notice that he was leaving the position. The matter of apI pointing a wardsman was loft in the ,hands of the chairman and secretary. It was decided to recommend a resident of Wluinga to be accepted as an inmate of the old people's home. Accounts amounting to £2'27 mere ■j passed for payment.
