A communique states: In the region of the Upper Strypa, east of Koslofer, we repulsed an enemy . attack in force, inflicting heavy losses. GERMAN OPERATIONS IN THE RICA REGION. UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO CROSS THE DVINA. (Received 8.20 a.m.) Petrograd, March 12. The Germans have established a battery of naval guns near Schlock to face a position remote from the main line. The advance on the Riga suggests they are preparing to shell the Russian warships winch have hitherto been checking the German attempts to follow coast road to Riga. The Germans have made frequent and unsuccessful attempts to cross the Dvina to secure 'advanced positions with a view to the impending close of the winter season. BLACK SEA BOMBARDMENT.
