Mr P. AVillcox, of Rahotu, has been re-elected the Egmont County representative on the Egmont National Park Board. 1 Mr John Lee, inspector-general of permanent ways at Te Kuiti, has just died. He joined the New Zealand railways staff in 1876. I ' Mr Henry William Heath, an old resident of Auckland, died at his residence. Alfred street, on Tuesday, aged 74 years. Mr and Mrs T. B. McConnell, Hawera, have received advice from the Base Records Office that their son, Driver G. T. McConnell, is being invalided home, and will arrive by a transport reaching Dunedin next Wednesday. Driver McConnell enlisted with the main body at the beginning of the war, joining the mounted rifles. He subsequently transferred to the divisional train, and saw active service on the Gallipoli' Peninsula. The Mayor of Wanganui (Mr C. E, Mackay, son of Mr Joseph Mackay. formerly Principal of Wellington Colege), who has enlisted, was heartily congratulated by the Borough Council on Tuesday on his patriotic action. Addressing the Mayor, Councillor Spriggens said: “It is hard for us to lose our Chief Magistrate, but we know your Worship has been largely actuated by the influence your action will have on others, and the hope that it will bear good fruit in inducing many of the younger ones to follow your example. You may be sure that when the time comes to take your departure, you will take away the best wishes, not only of the council, but of everyone in Wanganui.” Councillor Sigley briefly endorsed these remarks. Mr Mackay, in replying, stated that he would be ready to go as soon as he could make the necessary arrangements.
