I The Berliner Tagehlatt reveals that 'General Hindenburg ha s practically been shelved, stating that, though people are hoping everything is for the best, they are -astonished that the great leader has been tied to duties that could b e performed by another. The German press has evidently been instructed at present to adopt the 1 most cautious attitude about the Verdun battle. j The Frankfurter Zeituiig says that French reports admit that the Germans have initiated a big and successful operation. The Cologne Gazette claims a great German success The press is angry at the latest American development.
