THE POLICE FORCE.
PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED. Per Press Association. Wellington, February 24. The following promotions and transfers in the higher grades of the Police Force were announced to-day:— I Senior-Sergeant Mullany, Lambton Quay station, Wellington, has been promoted to sub-inspector as from March .1 and is transferred to Christchurch. Sub-Inspector Hastie, now stationed at Christchurch, is transferred to Timaru to till the vacancy there. Sergeant Charles Bowden, New Plymouth, is promoted to the rank of senior-sergeant as from March 1, and will remain tit New Plymouth. Senior-sergeant A. T. Emerson of Ashburton, is transferred to Lambton Quay station, vice Sub-Inspector Mullany.
Senior-Sergeant P. Ryan, of Lyttelton, is transferred to Ashburton to replace Senior-Sergeant Emerson.
