We made con
tinned progress in tlie Artois region by bombing west of La Folic. Two German attacks west of Hill MO were < ompletely repulsed. The Germans exploded a mine north of the NeuvilleTheuls road, and we occupied the crater. The enemy tried to debouch south, of the Somme, but were driven back.

<V German communique says: "We captured a large section of a trench north-west of Virny, and recaptured in the neighbourhood of Neuville a crater in the enemy's occupation. We captured twenty-two machine-guns, and *ve repulsed local attacks south of the flie enemy north of Bacquincoiirt obtained a foothold in a small section of our foremost trenches."
