VITAL STATISTICS.
INFLUENCE OF THE WAR. Wellington. February lU. The effect of the war upon (1) the number of marriages in Now Zealand, and (2; the number of illegitimate births is shown by figures prepared by the Registrar General’s Department at the direction of the Minister for Internal Affairs. The figures are:— Illegitimate Year Marriages. Births.
The substantial increase in the number of marriages is attributed in part to the desire of certain men to appear as “married” in the -National Reg's• tor though it is a fact that many members of the Expeditionary Forces have hastened their marriages before leaving the Dominion. * .*V V - * ' ‘ ~~S>*J**»~***~l .—iJ’-a' -
