in the Air.
THE VALUE OF THE RAIDS. The High Commissioner reports;— London, February 5 (2.45 p.m.). A War Office statement on the recent air raid declares that the German official report is unfounded regarding the claim that the economic life in Britain or the military preparations are appreciably affected by promiscuous bomb dropping in the dark. In twenty-nine raids on Brittiu since the beginning of the war. 133 men, and 90 women and 43 children were killed. Remembering that 1198 persons were drowned on the sinking of the Lusitania alone, the Zeppelin raids as a means of murdering innocent civilians must be comparatively disappointing to the promoters.
