The Knoigalberg belonged to the i North German Lloyd, au<l was in■feterned at Genoa early in the war. f; OIL STEAMER’S EXPERIENCE. % v • HIGH-HANDED GERMAN METHODS. TORPEDOED BUT SAVED. (Received 1.30 p.m.) Rotterdam, February 4. The Dutch oil steamer Artemis from Rotterdam to London in ballast was torpedoed on Wednesday under pxceptional circumstances. Four tnrpedoers stopped the .vessel at midnight j near the Noord Hindoo. I lie Germans boarded and found her cargoRss, and satisfied with the search, made an entry in the log to that effect, and ordered her to an anchorage, where 'two torpedoers ordered her to -Zeebrugge. The! captain protested. #’ as he did not know the locality, and •4 asked for a pilot. The Germans in '(hullying tones ordered the crew to ■ quit the vessel in five minutes, alleging they had disobeyed orders, and a torpedo was tired before the boats were lowered. The Artemis received a gaping bole,- but floated on her empty oil blanks. The crow re-board- ' ed her four hours later and started to take her'to Rotterdam.
