THE DOMINION'S FINANCE.

VERY SATISFACTORY POSITION. Per Press Association. Wellington, February 4. The Finance Minister said to-day that Hie increase in consolidated revenue for the ten months ending January 31st, 1916, over the ten months of tlie previous year wa s £924,260. For the twelve months ending January 31st, 1916, the increase of revenue by comparison with the previous year was £906,493. For the month of January last the increase of revenue over that of January, 1915, was £128,740. Sir Joseph Ward said that he was not able to-day to say anything about expenditure, as he had not the returns yet, but as soon as they were available he would supply the figures. So far as the revenue was concerned the increase was eminently satis* factory, and if the general consolidated expenditure could be kept down the country was on the way to a very satisfactory condition as far as public finance is concerned.
