SALVAGING OPERATIONS. Peb Press Absooutton. Wellington, February 1. The Terawhiti, with additional gear, returned to the Komata, which, is stranded near Pencarrow Heads. No attempt was made on the morning high tide to tow her off, hut more coal was removed and transhipped into a hulk alongside. She lies at present in a solid position, without any damaging movement, fast hy the head on the rocks and has made considerable water. Thp engine-room is free, and another-attempt to tow her oil "ill made at hijsh tide this, afternoon. A diver’s attempt to ascertain the damage is being thwarted hy the kelp on the rocks and the strong current.
