THE SOUTHLAND QUEEN CARNIVAL. RESULTS OF THE DRAWING.

The lottery in connection with the Southland Queen Carnival was drawn yesterday. After innumerable difficulties had, been overcome, the Tasmanian Government granted- Tattersals permission for the drawing, which took place in the presence of members of tlie Government, the press, and police. 208,149 tickets were sold, which realised £26.018. Mr C. ■ H. Hughes,, secretary of the. Union Steamship Company, Dunedin, drew . the prizes on behalf of the subscribers. The result was,as follows:
285,373 first, 6653 second. 189.380 third, 222,962 fourth, 17,204 fifth, 369.366 sixth, 300,578 seventh. 66.062 eighth 292,659 ninth, 241,669 tenth, 38,490 eleventh, 210,857 twelfth, 93,202 thirteenth, 301.661 fourteenth. 15,642 fifteenth. 135,407 sixteenth, 26611 seventeenth, 293,680 eighteenth, 138,402 nineteenth, 156,016 twentieth, 32,626 twenty-first, 246,066 twenty-second, 546 twentythird. 189,013 twenty-fourth, 112,609 twentv-fifth.
GIFT AUCTION SALE.
The committee advise that matters concerning the Gift Auction Sale are moving apace. Up to the present, they estimate that about £750 worth of stock and cash have been donated, and promised. The goal ot the management is to reach the £IOOO mark, and although farmers are subscribing wonderfully well, a supreme effort will be required during the next few days. It is the wish of the Committee that every farmer should attend this fixture, and again impress on the general public that the sale is to be conducted on usual auction sale lines.
