The Anniversary Day celebrations at Auckland to-clay were marred by a strong wind and rain, states the Press j Association. j A late Wellington message gives particulars of an official return show- j ihg th<x total number of officers killed as 121 and -215 wounded ; and men killed 2450, and wounded 5374. At the annual meeting of the Inglewood Oil Boring and Prospecting Com-j pany, held at New Plymouth last night, Messrs Thos. Furlong, jr., A. D. ,Grey (Auckland), and T. H. C. I Nicholls (Inglewood), were re-elected directors. Mr Hugh Baily was re-; elected auditor. A vote of thanks was paid to Messrs T. H. C. Nicholls and D. Watson for their services during’ the past year. * ' A Press Association telegram from Wellington stated; Next Saturday, 3000 troops are to be engaged in a route march at Auckland and Wellington. At Auckland, 2000 men will parade, comprising the 4th Battalion Rifle Brigade, the 3rd Maori Reinforce_ ments, Ambulance Reinforcements, Army Service Corps, and the 13th Reinforcements, i The mobilisation of the troops will commence at Trentham and Featherston on Bth February. this is completed, there will he 4500 men in training at Trentham and 6500 at Featherston.
