Constable Sweeney, who has been doin s duty in Stratford for the past six months* resigned from the Police Force as from yesterday. j The Hector Memorial award and prize for 1916, has been awarded by the New Zealand Institute to Sir Ernest Rutherford, Professor of Phy-, sics at the Manchester University.— P.A. Adjutant Cook, of the Salvation Army, Stratford, is to he married to Captain M. Bright, at Neison, on Saturday (to-morro\v), and with Mrs, Cook, is due to arrive at Stratford on Friday. February 4, 'per the Welling-ton-New Plymouth mail train.
