FIRE AT PORT AHURIRI.

Per Press Association. Napier, January 27. A serious fire occurred at Ahuriri last night when Bull Bros.’ timber mill, stables, much seasoned timber and a four-loomed cottage were destroyed. Luckily the wind carried the heat and sparks across the lagoon and tips probably saved tbo whole street of small houses. Two horses in the stable perished. It was impossible to reach one, but the other was secured only to collapse from suffocation at the stable door, where it was burnt to a cinder. The origin of the outbreak is a mystery. The damage is roughly set clown at £13,000. Ihe insurances are not available.
