FIGHTING IN A SNOWSTORM

j The 1 first Turkish positions in the Caucasus were stormed on the Russian Now Year's Day, January 14th. The Russians, advancing in the night during a terrible blizzard, floundered in the snowdrift then crawled on all fours, and completely surprised the Turks. The latter used rockets and searchlights, but these were useless in the thick snowstorm, and the snowcovered Russians being invisible, fell on the enemy with the bayonet. Panic seized the Turks, who did not believe an attack was possible. The Russians remorselessly pushed on, and soon the iwhole Turk tiations were .run. ' •.
