SUBSTITUTE FOR THE HYMN OF HATE. Tlie Horne correspondent ol' a London pa per says that Germany’s “Hymn of Hate” lias lioon supplanted by “The ClianL of the German Sword”—a composition brought out in Leipsie a week or so ago, which has already run into ball a dozen editions. This is what its anonymous author makes the “German sword” say :■ —■ “It is no duty of mine to be either just or compassionate; it suffices that 1 am sanctified by ray exalted mission, nub that I blind the eyes of my enemies with such streams of tears as shall make the proudest of them cringe in terror under the'vault of heaven. “J have slaughtered the old and the sorrowful ;l have struck off the breasts >f women, and I have run through the body of children who gazed at me villi the eyes of the wounded lion. “Day after day, I rode a 1 olt on the, diadowy horse in the valley of. Cypresses; and as I ride L draw forth the life blood from every enemy’s son that .lares to dispute my path. “It is meet and right that 1 should ■ry aloud my pride, for am I not the flaming messenger of the Lord Almighty ? “Germany is so far above and beyond ill the other nations that all the rest of the earth, be they who they may, diould feel themselves well done by .then they are allowed fight with the (logs for the crumbs that fall from her table.
“When Germany the divine is happy, then the vest of the world basks in ■•miles; but when Germany suffers, God in person is rent with anguish, uid, wrathful and avenging, He turns ill the waters into rivers of blood.”
