The Liverpool underwriters report shat the maritime losses in 1915 amounted to £29,7.59,000 millions, ■omparod to £(>,750.000 million in 1013. Tiio enemy sunk 231 British and 213 foreign vessels in 1915, Newspapers are discussing the question of freights. The Daily Mail says that possibly the maximum freights must he fixed by legislation.
A STEAMER SUNK
London, January 19. The Man-re has been sunk. The crew were saved.
GERMAN SUBMARINE LIARS. SINKING OF THE PERSIA DENIED. (Received 8.20 a.m.) New York, January 20. Reports from the German submarine commanders show they deny that they were responsible for the sinking of the Persia. BRITISH SUBMARINE AGROUND. ALL HANDS SAVED. (Received 12.35 a.m.) London, January 20.
Official. A British submarine grounded on the coast of Holland. A British destroyer saved part of the officers and crew and a .Dutch warship saved the rest.
