A QUERY.
[To Thh Emtob Stbatfoeii Post.]
Sir,—l have heard to-day that the Minister of Internal Affairs has granted a passport to a young man that worked in the Stratford district to go home to Old Country (Ireland) to see his mother. Now that the Empire is fighting for its very existence and'Taranaki District is 34 men short for its quota for the 13th Reinforcements, I would like to know, Mr Editor, why did he get a passport on such a frivolous excuse to leave this country at swell a time as the present, Will any of your Patriotic Committees or Recruiting Officers enquire from the Minister why, as the 'hoat he sails in leaves Wellington (where he is at present) sometime next week. It is simply absurd when fathers are sending their sons to the front to fight for the Empire and get killed that "heroes" can go homo on a holiday.—l am, etc., LOYALIST.
